    Through the determination and perseverance of one young lady, Soror Drulisia Moss, of Fort Worth, TX, to bring a new meaning of Sisterhood, promote scholastic achievement, emphasize the value of poise and personal dignity, provide community service, and commit to the quality of youth, Mu Zeta was established on the campus of East Texas State University (now Texas A&M University-Commerce) in Commerce, Texas.  Under the guidance of Soror Lecia Swain, Southwestern Regional Syntaktes, Mu Zeta was officially chartered on December 6, 1991.  The first official charter line was inducted into membership on November 24, 1991.
